Chickadee

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Birds and flowers are my favorite subjects. This little fellow was painted on a glass building block using enamels. A hole was drilled in the back and a strand of Christmas lights inserted to make it a night light.

Your Chickadee is just gorgeous Bobbi. I adore all these small birds. Here, the Blue Wren and the Willy Wagtail are amongst my favourites. I would be interested in hearing more about the process that you have used here.

Ah! I love it! I hope you don't mind if I play with the idea too. I am utterly incapable of realistic painting, I admit, but I've had a special affinity for glass blocks ever since I first saw them used in construction. I would DEARLY love to replace some of our smaller walls with glass blocks, but...sigh...he damn near fainted when I even suggested it.

Every time we go to the big box building supply store I pop into aisle 12 to stare and the glass blocks and wonder what I could do with them. Thank to you, now I know! I've not yet experimented with light and colour both. Hmmm...I can't wait till I find the time.
